CarboflameX is a completely natural and exceptionally pure flake graphite which has been subjected to a controlled intercalation process, to produce a finished product that expands up to many hundreds of times its volume when subject to heat.
This intercalation process inserts a ‘expansion agent’ between the graphite particle structure, that, when subject to fire, expands dramatically to seal and close vulnerable areas of buildings such as doors, ceiling ducts and floors to limit the spread of fire and prevent loss of life.
As we transition away from fossil fuels to strive to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, it has never been more important for the UK’s future energy needs to secure supplies of graphite from a geopolitically stable partner outside of China. So important is graphite for the energy and infrastructure of the UK, that the UK government has now classified graphite as a critical resource.
Indeed, if geopolitical tensions rise, and to secure the hegemony of the UK, it is entirely possible that importation of all grades of graphite of Chinese origin may face restrictions by the UK government.
